I come from a nomad Berber family and now we live at the outskirts of the Sahara Desert, in Merzouga. I was born in our family tent in the desert. My father was a shepherd, meaning we moved from place to place, following the rain to feed our animals. For many years we lived isolated.
Twelve years ago we bought our first 2 camels and together with my brother Mustapha, we started Wonderful Desert. We hoped to share our home and culture. We wanted people to experience our nomad desert life. The first time a tourist asked if he could take a picture, I did not understand what he wanted. In time, we learned English and other languages and we started to share our home with the people that came to learn about us. We started with Merzouga desert tours and expanded to trips from Fes, Marrakech, etc. but always coming back to the desert.
